10 Reasons To Become A Kindle Ebook Author Now

Why Ebooks Still - Earma Brown, America's Book Success Coach

As you know, E-books have not enjoyed a lot of credibility in the publishing world. It seemed, Ebook authors were viewed with even less esteem than vanity print book authors. Yet, they have been around since the beginning of the Internet Age, but have not been widely accepted until recently.

There are two huge signs that e-books are now an acceptable and even mainstream method of book publishing. The first is the report from Forrester Research that predicted e-book sales would total $966 million in 2010. Sales were only $169 million in 2009, according to the FR organization. Ebook Newser reported, “In 2010, the global ebook market grew by more than 200%, exceeding…”

In earlier years, many predictors of the trends said, the $1 billion line for total e-books sales would be crossed in 2011. Mobile Computing News in November, 2010 reported, “Ebooks A Billion Dollar Business…” Most attribute this level of sales to the wide use of the Kindle, iPad, Nook and other e-book reading devices.  According to the Forrester organization only 7% of online adults who read books read e-books, so there is still room for the industry to grow.

The second major indicator is the New York Times began a best-seller list for electronic content early in 2011. The New York Times Bestseller list, around since 1935, is the most recognizable book ranking list. The NYT will rank sales aggregated from online service providers selling e-books, according to information released by the publisher. The Times partnered with Royalty Share to validate e-book sales from various outlets. The list appeared in The New York Times Book Review in print and online in 2011.

The Kindle ereaders are hot, right now. In fact, Amazon is selling more electronic books than print books these days.  Amazon said recently that its customers are buying Kindle digital versions of the top 10 best-selling books more than twice as often as print copies.

“For the top 10 best-selling books on Amazon.com, customers are choosing Kindle books over hardcover and paperback books combined at a rate of greater than two to one,” said Steve Kessel, senior vice president of Amazon Kindle.

With all that said, getting published on Kindle is hotter still. Although ebooks are here to stay; it’s a known fact things in life change, so who knows how long this popularity trend might last. Why not jump in with your work in ebook format before it’s all over?

Here are ten of the biggest reasons why you should consider publishing your book on Kindle, even if you don’t own one. Tons of people are buying their first Kindle, and odds are they’ll be looking for a variety of books to read on their Kindles.  Here’s ten reasons yours should be one of the books available for the Amazon Kindle voracious market of readers:

1) It makes your book portable and accessible. I personally read more, now that I can so easily access my books.

2) It lets your reader add your book(s) to their library from anywhere at anytime, after purchase of course. My point is there are no store hours to limit the sale of your book.

3) Kindle screens can be read in broad daylight. It makes your book more likely to be read on vacation,  on a picnic or anywhere the desire strikes to read and the sun is shining.

4) Kindles are getting more and more affordable. More people are buying Kindles and they want good stuff to read on their Kindle.

5) The Kindle Store is growing. As we talked about earlier, the ebook market period is expanding but especially the Amazon Kindle.

6. The Amazon Kindle publishing platform is author friendly and easy. There’s not a long list of requirements to meet before publishing. I have prepared a short tutorial for you; download when you are ready.

7. No ISBN number is required at this time. If you are on a tight budget, you can start without one.

8. It’s free to publish with no setup costs. That sounds like a win-win strategy to me. Now is the time.

9. The royalty percentage is 70% or 30% at the time of this writing. I don’t know how long this will last but for now, that’s the deal.

10. Ebooks are on a growth trend. According to Forrester Research, U.S. Ebook Forecast, Ebook buying is about to spiral upward. Ebooks sales are set to nearly triple by 2015 to 2.8 billion dollars.

Now this is where you come in as a potential Kindle author!

A growing number of people are scrambling to create content for Amazon’s Kindle store.  In fact, there’s a lot of great information available for Kindle that’s not available in any other form. As a result, even more people are likely to break down and invest in a Kindle, which will lead to even more readers who are shopping in the Kindle store for new information.  And you could and should be right there to provide it!

  • Every ebook writer definitely needs to know all these great reasons why they should publish on Kindle but they should also be aware that once they are on Kindle they still need to market and promote their ebook to get traffic to Amazon. People think just by putting it there they will be guaranteed sales and it’s simply not true-I know from experience.
